Hollywood Assistants Tumblr Blog to Become CBS Sitcom | EW ›
The blog is based on the popular What Should We Call Me model. The show will focus on “five educated young women toiling as lowly assistants for high-powered Hollywood executives.” The blog’s creator Lauren Bachelis, who’s worked on New Girl and Heroes, will write and produce with Fred Savage directed and executive producing.
It is yet to be seen whether it will be as funny as a series of well contextualized GIFs.
Okay, while this is disgusting and sounds like it came straight out of the 16th century, I have to say something about. You realize this is not what all Republicans believe, right? The only thing I see here (besides misogyny) is misrepresentation. I think we get so caught up in our liberal mindsets that we don’t realize that the liberal media does this all the time. They have created this predicated notion that all Republicans are misogynistic, anti-abortion, homophobic, close-minded people. I’m not saying this isn’t true, because the unfortunate reality is that a large number of Republicans do have this mindset. But I think the problem is that we put the most extreme examples at the forefront of the Republican movement, making it seem like this is what they all believe, when in fact it’s not. It’s sad to me that people like Rev. Peterson believe something like this, and it’s even sadder that some of the most powerful politicians in the country are not far from this same belief. But is it right to generalize so loosely as to say “This is what Republicans believe”, as though this mindset were a qualification of being a Republican?
I am not a Republican. In fact, I am the furthest thing from a Republican. But it seems more and more that the media has put such an ugly spin on the GOP that we have started to see them as the enemy. We have begun to hate on them, so much so that our society has sort of turned on itself. The country is split into liberal and conservative factions, and to me it feels like there is no movement or progress because of this. This ad was a wake up call to me. It’s propaganda, plain and simple.
